SACOME is a not for profit, non-government organisation which aims to promote the long term sustainability of the resources industry in South Australia

The resources industry is defined as the full spectrum of sectors engaged in industry activities including those with business, vocational or professional interests in:

  • Minerals exploration
  • Mining and processing
  • Oil and gas exploration
  • Extraction and processing
  • Power generation including geothermal power transmission and distribution
  • Logistics, transport, infrastructure, and those with clients in these sectors

We work for industry by:

  • Advocating for the industry through formal and informal representations to government (federal and state) on matters of interest or concern to its members
  • Assisting with the building of strong community and stakeholder support for the sector’s social licence to operate
  • Monitoring and where necessary seeking to influence government policy and regulation to ensure it supports the resources industry, by proactively engaging with government and opposition parties
  • Convening meetings, forums, seminars and workshops dedicated to advancing and promoting the interests of members
  • Hosting and administering programs in areas where there is a specific member/industry/community benefit, for example our Education and Careers Programs.

SACOME also hosts an extensive program of functions designed to keep members informed of industry projects, promote the industry to the wider community, and provide valuable social and networking opportunities. These include lunches, breakfasts, seminars and our very popular annual resources industry dinner.

SACOME membership is open to all companies with business interests in the resources industry in South Australia. Find out more about membership benefits and how to join.

SACOME Anti-Trust Statement

The South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy brings together member representatives and competitors from a variety of industries. SACOME staff and its members will avoid discussion and not play a role in the competitive decisions of its members or their employers, or in any way restrict competition not only in the resource and minerals industries but in any industry. This restriction includes the exchange of information concerning individual prices, rates, coverage’s, market practices, claims settlement practices, or any other competitive aspect of an individual’s company operation. SACOME recognises the possibility that the Association and its activities could be seen by some as an opportunity to engage in anticompetitive conduct. For this reason, SACOME has taken the opportunity, through this statement of policy, to make clear its unequivocal support for the policy of competition served by the antitrust laws and its uncompromising intent to comply strictly in all respects with these laws. Members are also encouraged to speak up immediately for the purpose of preventing any discussion falling outside these bounds.
