Certainly. All students should try and get work experience in the sector that interests them. We would advise contacting companies in your local area to see if there are any possibilities for work experience whilst you are still in school. Alternatively you can apply to participate in the Australian Student Mineral Venture (ASMV) held every year. Also, it is beneficial to continue science, maths and IT courses at school.
What is vacation work?
Vacation work is real, paid work experience with a mining or energy company. It is available to university students during their semester breaks. Many of our industry members provide vac work. The following list is a sample of some of the opportunities available to students.

Yes, provided you are over 16 years of age. Although your chances of employment are increased if you have completed a relevant TAFE certificate or pre-apprenticeship course.
