SACOME spoke out against recent Federal Treasury proposals to strip fuel tax credits; reduce research and development concessions; end immediate deductibility of exploration expenditure and cut accelerated depreciation in the oil and gas industry.

SACOME successfully lobbied against a new round of hits to the mineral and energy resources sector, which saw proposed cuts to fuel tax credits left out of the recent Federal Budget. 

SACOME issued a media release on the issue and spoke extensively to the media (including ABC 24, The Advertiser and The Financial Review), about the impact these cuts would have on the industry (see Media Coverage for more details).

SACOME also congratulated the State Government on its role in ensuring the diesel excise rebate wasn't scrapped in a seperate media release.
