The Minerals Council of Australia has released a new toolkit to assist employees, supervisors and organisations in the minerals industry to help understand their rights and obligations.
Furthermore, the toolkit explains how parental leave and flexible work can be effectively and successfully managed.
Representiatives of the Women in Resources Network from around Australia met in Canberra to exchange strategies for the recruitment and retention of female employees in the minerals sector. Preliminary findings of a review of strategies to increase the number of women working in the industry indicate there has been a slow and steady increase in the number of women working in the sector - currently, approx. 18% of the industry's employees are women.
