Adelaide to host high achieving women at national awards dinner next month
The South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) will host some of the highest achievers in minerals and energy from across Australia, at a spectacular dinner to be held on September the 1st .
The event will bring together stakeholders in the resources industry from across Australia to announce winners of the Women in Resources National Awards (WIRNA), a partnership between SACOME, the Minerals Council of Australia (and its Victorian and NT branches) the New South Wales Minerals Council, Queensland Resources Council, Tasmanian Minerals and Energy Council and the Chamber of Minerals and Energy Western Australia.
Jason Kuchel, Chief Executive SACOME, said “This high profile event and national awards support the industry’s goal of attracting and retaining women in resources across all areas of the industry, flowing through to the increased participation of women at senior and board levels.”
The National Awards dinner, to be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre and sponsored by BHP Billiton Olympic Dam, will focus on celebration and networking. Last year, BHP Billiton’s Olympic Dam Chief Jacqui McGill won the Gender Diversity Champion Award, with South Australian based women sweeping the awards pool to take out four of the five awards. Under Ms McGill’s leadership, Olympic Dam now has the first ever gender balanced asset leadership team in BHP Billiton.
The 2016 Australian Women in Resources National Awards categories are:
