Global innovators to share secrets at Adelaide summit next week
Globally renowned innovators in the resources space together with local entrepreneurs are set to share their inventions, practices and approaches to innovation creation at a dynamic event in Adelaide next week.
The South Australian Resources Industry Innovation Summit, a first for South Australia and organised by the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy, will be held on Friday 23 September with a focus on increasing the State’s resources sector innovation, collaboration and global competitiveness.
The program, finalised today, features some of the sector’s biggest success stories with keynotes from BHP Billiton, Condor Energy, OZ Minerals, Sandvik, the Deep Exploration Technologies CRC and Maptek, amongst a total of 20 succinct presentations on an information rich, half day program.
Jason Kuchel, Chief Executive of SACOME said “Innovation throughout the resources sector is key at any point in the commodities cycle but even more critical when the sector must lift productivity and international competitiveness.”
“This Summit provides the perfect forum to share, facilitate collaboration and learn from global success stories, benefiting our petroleum and minerals companies and also our talented mining equipment, technology and services (METS) companies as more and more of these strive to compete nationally and globally.” said Mr Kuchel.
“Our aim is that each and every participant takes away some innovation that can be readily implemented within their company to improve productivity or enhance safety or environmental outcomes.”
Three networking/exhibition sessions will round out the Summit program, providing ample opportunity for delegates to engage in deeper discussions with presenters and make valuable connections.
The Innovation Summit was born of SACOME’s Resources Industry Awards earlier in the year, which featured Awards for Commercial Success and Innovation, unearthing and promoting some of the exceptional ability in this State’s resources industry. Nominations for the 2017 awards will open in late 2016, again in the categories of Innovation in Resources and Commercial Achievement.
An optional free tour of the Tonsley Innovation Hub will follow the Summit, visiting the pioneering facility including the Flinders University, NVI, TAFE SA, the SA Core Library, MicroX and Siemens.
