Libs release energy solution
The South Australian Chamber of Mines & Energy (SACOME) is encouraged that the Liberal Energy Solution released today has security, reliability and affordability at its core. These values have long been advocated by SACOME, the leading industry body representing the resources sector in South Australia.
SACOME’s continued policy priority is to promote a balanced approach to energy reform.
The Liberal Energy Solution released today has the potential to deliver several industry relevant reforms. Specifically, it recognises the importance of gas in the energy market.
The Liberal Energy Solution encourages continuing exploration for new energy resources; including exploration and development of unconventional gas resources in the Cooper and Eromanga Basins.
Rebecca Knol CEO SACOME said: “The Liberal Energy Solution recognises the importance of gas in the energy market, as gas constitutes 50.5%* of South Australia’s electricity generation. Any introduced moratoria will impact price and would be inconsistent with the strong regulatory system, safety record and scientific facts of gas exploration, development technology and practices in South Australia.
“SACOME continues to advocate against any gas moratoria that may be introduced in South Australia. The Liberal Energy Solution indicates alignment to the Finkel Review; which accepted nine of SACOME’s submission recommendations”.
