New supply deal delivers certainty for Joint Electricity Purchasing Group
Media Release Date: 13 August 2026
The South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) has successfully secured a new electricity supply arrangement for participants in its Joint Electricity Purchasing Group (JEPG), ensuring continuity of supply and ongoing access to competitive electricity pricing.
Following the voluntary administration of the group's previous retailer, SACOME, supported by lead energy advisers Mumford Commercial Consulting (MCC), undertook a competitive process to identify and appoint a new electricity supplier for the JEPG participants.
SACOME Chief Executive Officer Catherine Mooney said Iberdrola Australia had been appointed as the new electricity supplier, with all participating sites successfully transferred and formal onboarding progressing.
"We are pleased to have secured a new supply arrangement that provides certainty for participating businesses and preserves the benefits of collective procurement,” Ms Mooney said.
"The Joint Electricity Purchasing Group was established to help our members manage one of their most significant operating costs. By leveraging the collective purchasing power of major industrial energy users, we can secure competitive market outcomes and create tangible value for participating businesses.
"The successful transition to Iberdrola Australia demonstrates the strength of the JEPG model. Importantly, it ensures our members can continue to focus on their operations with confidence in their electricity supply arrangements.
"We thank our JEPG members, Iberdrola Australia and our advisers at MCC for their collaboration, responsiveness and commitment throughout the transition."
The JEPG is a member-driven initiative that supports energy-intensive industries across South Australia by aggregating electricity demand to improve purchasing outcomes, strengthen competitiveness and help participating businesses manage energy costs.
