Ship Just Got Real
The South Australian Chamber of Mines & Energy (SACOME) has successfully lobbied for the development of critical port infrastructure, including the development of a deep water Cape Class port.
Today’s State Government announcement is a fantastic outcome for all export sectors and a huge step towards securing the future prosperity of South Australia.
The recently released SACOME Priorities: State Election 2018 document highlights the critical importance of infrastructure to not only the resources sector, but all sectors that rely on it.
Over one third of South Australia’s exports are from the resources sector, worth a staggering $4 billion. The resource sector feeds $213 million per annum in royalties back to the state and the development of a Cape Class port enables further growth of this sector which will provide benefits for all.
SACOME CEO Rebecca Knol said: “Many of SACOME’s infrastructure priorities are shared by other industry sectors and funding of these projects will yield economic benefits across multiple constituencies.
“It is vital that the port is multiuser, provides open access to third parties and has an efficient and effective rail and road network.”
