Statutes Amendment (Mineral Resources) Bill Passes
The South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) welcomes the passage of the Statutes Amendment (Mineral Resources) Bill 2018 by the Legislative Council.
SACOME acknowledges the passage of the Bill as a positive first step in modernising the Mining Act and looks forward to working with Government and all other stakeholders on further reforms.
The South Australian resource sector underpins the South Australian economy employing 26,000 people directly and indirectly in highly paid, highly skilled jobs. The sector contributes 33 per cent of the State’s exports, helping to fund our schools, hospitals and roads.
SACOME CEO, Rebecca Knol said; “We look forward to being part of ongoing reform of the State’s mining laws to ensure that the sector remains at the forefront of innovation and a sector of choice for employment.”
